- Dakota P.TLDR; showed up late, charged me for 3.5 hours of work when he only did 3, fixed one leak only to cause another. We had Van come fix a leak in our irrigation system. The task was scheduled for 1:30p, but he reached out about 10 minutes before to let me know his previous task was running longer than expected and that he would be a bit late. I told him no problem and didn't hear back from him again until he arrived at 2:40p. Van was pleasant. He inspected the leak and gave me options on what we could do to fix it. We decided to replace all the parts since they were old anyways. He leaves to go to the store (10-15 min away) for the parts and comes back an hour later (now 4pm). After an hour and a half, he was able to replace most of the parts and fix the leak. He did pick up the wrong size sprinkler valve (3/4" when we needed larger) so that wasn't installed. I did think it was weird that he kept turning on the valve to refill my pool thinking it turns the drip system on even after I explained it to him. I talked to him about coming back in a week to patch our drip system and to install the new 3/4" sprinkler valve. I explained it would probably be a big job and he was happy to do it. We turned on the drip system and waited to see if it worked. Since we had planned on him coming back, I told him he could leave and that any issues can be resolved when he comes back next week. He left at 5:40p which totaled 3 hours spent. After he left, I was billed 3.5 hours of work and a flat $60 for the parts. This didn't sit right with me because he was only there for 3 hours and I never saw a receipt. The leak is gone, but now there's a new leak from where he connected back to the drip system. Also, his rate is now $10 higher than when I booked him which seems like he updated his pricing knowing I had a second bigger job lined up for him. All of this makes me feel like he's gouging for money.Plumbing
