Task of the Week: TaskRabbit to Help Prep for Airbnb Guests

This Task is a great example of the power of collaborative consumption in revolutionizing the way people interact, consume, and get things done on a daily basis.

The Sender, Jamie W., wanted help tidying up her apartment – not because her parents were visiting or because she was hosting a dinner party for friends.  Nope, it’s because she was having an Airbnb guest crash at her place.  If you haven’t heard of this awesome service, Airbnb connects folks who have space to spare – a room, a bed, a couch, a futon – with those folks who are looking for a place to stay.  Just like TaskRabbit, Airbnb is disrupting the conventional way of getting things done by tapping into the power of the community. Love it!

With little time to spare between visiting guests, Jamie was looking for a fast and easy way to get her place in tip-top shape.  Voila! TaskRabbit to the rescue!  Jamie got connected to an awesome TaskRabbit, Jacob Paul Q., within just 30 minutes of posting the Task, and the job was done the very next day.  What could be easier?

It’s great to see our TaskPosters capitalizing on all aspects of the “sharing economy.” Jamie – who knows a thing or two about collaborative consumption 😉  as co-founder of Vayable – is willing to share what she can (her extra space) while borrowing what she needs (spare time from a TaskRabbit Runner).  More importantly, Jamie is connecting and working directly with people in her own community.

Whether it’s a place to stay or tapping into the latent skills in your neighborhood, we truly believe collaborative consumption is the way of the future. We’re excited to be part of the revolution. As Leah, our CEO and founder, mentioned in a TechCrunch article earlier this week, “2011 will be dubbed the year of The Sharing Economy.” Jamie, and other members of our community, are well on the way to making this a reality.
