How To Find Instructions on IKEA’s Website

All the assembly instructions listed above are also on IKEA’s website, along with instructions for all other items they sell. To find these items online, do the following:

  1. First check for the name of the item in your task description. Then navigate to IKEA.com and search for the item in the top search bar.
  2. Once on the product page,  scroll down to the “Product details” link below the photos, and click the right-facing arrow. This will open a panel that you can scroll down on to find another link labeled “Assembly & documents.”
  3. Click the down-facing arrow to find assembly instructions for all versions of the product.
  4. Tap the provided link to download the PDF instructions!
  5. Alternatively, you can download the IKEA app so you have the entire IKEA store in your pocket, including assembly instructions for every product.

IKEA’s “Secure it!” Requirements

Everyone wants their home to be a safe space, and tipping accidents with large pieces of furniture can cause severe injuries.

The best way to help prevent furniture tip-over accidents is to secure furniture to the wall. IKEA urges customers to inspect their IKEA chests of drawers and dressers to ensure that they are securely anchored to the wall using the restraints provided in the packaging. As Taskers, it will be up to you to take note of these requirements and mount items to the wall when securing them is required in the instructions.

If your client isn’t able or is unwilling to secure an item to the wall when the assembly instructions require it to be and you haven’t assembled it yet, please do not move forward with the assembly of this particular item. Also document the information in the chat thread, and feel free to review this Support page for more info.

Flat-rate Pricing Model

Taskrabbit services are advertised directly to millions of IKEA customers, so your potential client base is significant. Clients at IKEA stores and on IKEA.com are offered a flat-rate pricing model for assembly tasks—something we anticipate will result in steadier work volume for IKEA Assembly Taskers.

What this opportunity means:

  • Clients can easily book tasks with flat rate pricing in IKEA stores and on the IKEA website. Flat rates are based on each item and complexity of assembly, and you’ll be paid for every item you assemble.
  • You’ll receive task invitations based on your task history and availability. No chat response is necessary to accept or reject an invitation (but chat will still be available)!
  • While Clients can still tip you, any expenses incurred (such as hardware, parking fees, and tolls) are not permitted.

Why this is a great opportunity for your business:

  • We’ve offered this same model in Canada and Europe and have seen a substantial increase in client demand and fewer cancellations
  • All IKEA items to be assembled as part of the task will be listed in the task description so you’ll know exactly how much you’re earning in advance.

5 Tips For IKEA Assembly Tasks

Whether you already task in the IKEA Assembly category or you’re interested in adding it to your profile, here are some tips sourced from top Taskers to help set you up for success on our platform:

1. Best Ways to Prepare for IKEA Assembly Tasks:

  • Keep your map up to date—there is demand for IKEA Assembly tasks from city centers to suburbs, and beyond.
  • Always keep your future availability up to date.
  • Communicate in chat if you have questions about the items listed in your task description. Confirm that the items and number of items in the task description match what the client ordered.
  • Check out the Taskrabbit blog post on must-have tools!
  • Finally, check the IKEA app, where you can find assembly instructions for each item in your task.

2. Sample Questions To Ask Clients Before an IKEA Assembly Task

  • Will this task require General Mounting, blind cutting, or curtain installation?
  • Have all the items been delivered? Can you notify me if your delivery is delayed or canceled?
  • Have you placed the packages in the room where you need the item assembled, and is there plenty of space?

3. Handy Upskilling Resources

  • If the items listed in your task fall under the Secure It! policy, check out these blog posts to learn all about mounting items to a wall.
  • If the assembly instructions for the items in your task aren’t linked above, check out IKEA’s website or YouTube for supplemental assembly instructions.

4. Final Steps Before Your IKEA Assembly Task Begins

  • Set aside enough travel time, and check for traffic updates.
  • Check your client chat thread to confirm (if you haven’t already) that the delivery has been received.
  • Again, check to see if the item you’re assembling falls under IKEA’s “Secure it!” category. If your clients are unable or unwilling to mount the item to the wall, confirm this in the chat thread, and do not assemble it.

5. Troubleshooting During an IKEA Assembly Task

  • If you find that there are additional items to assemble, or if an item is missing or damaged:
    • Record in the chat thread (or ask your client to record) which items should be added or removed. This is important in order to confirm that there will be an adjustment to the task’s cost for the client.
  • If you accidentally damage an item during your IKEA Assembly task:
    • Please reach out to Taskrabbit support as soon as possible. It is highly recommended to take photos of any damaged items. If your client also needs support, instruct them to contact IKEA support.
