Tasker Spotlight: Mayra P., The Penaloza Brothers, and Donte P.

Taskrabbit wouldn’t be the platform it is without the Taskers who have helped shape it. As we look toward all the great new updates to come, we wanted to introduce four Taskers who have exemplified the spirit of Taskrabbit by achieving their goals, helping their communities, and pursuing lives they’ve always dreamed of.

Tasking to Travel

Tasker Mayra P. was a personal assistant to New York millionaires and billionaires when her friend told her she should become a Tasker to make extra money in her off hours. What she didn’t expect was the freedom tasking gave her.

“Taskrabbit allows me to make my own schedule and earn as much money as I’d like,” Mayra told us. “If there’s a financial emergency, I can work harder to make more money. It also gives me freedom to travel, which is my passion!”

Mayra has traveled to almost thirty countries, and seventeen of these trips were direct results of the income she earned from tasking.

But it doesn’t stop there. Mayra is also a writer and filmmaker, and Taskrabbit gives her the flexibility and time to pursue these endeavors—and any other hobbies that might strike her fancy. Furthermore, when her father had a stroke, she was also able to take care of him in a way she never would have if she’d been confined to a traditional 9-to-5 schedule.

Her favorite task to date? Building a makeup closet for TikTok beauty influencer Meridith Duxbury. As Mayra put it: “That task gave me some clout!”

Tasking for the Family

The Penaloza Brothers (Derick, Edwin, and Kevin) are a group of three Taskers based in Dallas/Fort Worth who have used Taskrabbit to raise capital for their family business. They joined the platform after a friend recommended it to them, and in the time since, they’ve found success in both business endeavors.

“There were other options for our family business, including loans and investors, but these didn’t quite work for us,” Derick says. “Business loan interest was too high, and investors wanted to change the quality of our product. Thanks to Taskrabbit, we’re now able to continue raising funds while maintaining the same quality for our other business.”

Every task comes with new challenges and experiences, and the Penaloza brothers have found that being completely honest and truthful about the skills they do or don’t have works to their benefit.

And the most rewarding part? Grateful clients.

“It’s the best feeling when you do a task for someone who is grateful,” Derrick says. “It really lights up our day and fills us with energy to do more!”

Tasking in a New City

Tasker Donte P. was doing Doordash and Instacart when a family member heard about Taskrabbit and suggested it to him. They knew Taskrabbit would be a better opportunity for him moving forward, so he decided to give it a try.

“I started tasking after my first month of moving to Arizona, a state I’d never lived in before,” Donte told us. “I now task full time in Tucson, and what keeps me inspired every day is knowing I’m making a difference by helping the community with a wide variety of jobs—particularly for teachers and schools.”

When Donte moved to Tucson, he didn’t have a job and didn’t know anybody. Taskrabbit changed all that, impacting his life substantially by giving him freedom, letting him adjust his rates and availability, and allowing him to work with friends who are now also Taskers.

So, what have been the most meaningful tasks for Donte?

“My first three tasks are the most meaningful ones I’ve done,” he says. “They were each furniture assembly tasks—IKEA and other brands. They’re the most memorable because they got me to where I am today! If I hadn’t taken a chance on myself and tried something new, I’d still be doing the same comfortable things as before and wouldn’t have given myself the chance to truly give back to the community.”

Donte’s dream task? Anything for the Black Mamba Family, run by Vanessa Bryant in Los Angeles. “They’ve been a great inspiration to me for as long as I could remember. I would love to do a Personal Assistant task for them. Literally anything they ask for!”

Not only does Taskrabbit allow people from all walks of life to make a great living on their own schedule, but it can also connect people right when they need it most. These types of stories define our platform, and we can’t wait to see which new ones inspire us next!
