6 Things to Do in LA That Aren’t Furniture Assembly

Next time someone asks you if you’re doing anything fun this weekend, you can have an answer that’s more exciting than figuring out how to put together the new nightstands you bought online. Furniture Assembly is what Taskers are for! (And LA happens to have some of the best Taskers in the country, just sayin’).

Get away from the city and catch gorgeous views at Point Dume

Whether you’re in the mood to see wildflowers or whales, there’s a good chance you’ll see both if you head to Point Dume before April.

The easy 1.5-mile hike on Point Dume Cove Trail features the best that nature has to offer, with cliffside views and fresh air. There are usually sea lions on the coast, too—what’s more to love? The nearby beaches are a perfect spot to relax after exploring the area. It’s worth packing a picnic for a day trip to this idyllic Malibu spot.

Enjoy a rooftop in DTLA

With so many neighborhoods to love in LA, it can be easy to never leave yours. But you might be missing out! These rooftop bars just might change your perspective on downtown.

Cara Cara

If unbeatable views are your thing, head to Cara Cara. From the decor to the best view of the skyline in the city, you’ll definitely want to snag a picture of your trip.

Broken Shaker at Freehand LA

Escape to a poolside paradise of award-winning cocktails at Broken Shaker. They won Tales of the Cocktail’s Best American Hotel Bar award; it’s worth a visit.

Cabra Los Angeles

As Cara Cara is for views and Broken Shaker is for drinks, Cabra is your go-to stop for incredible dining. Top Chef-winner Stephani Izard opened up the West Coast arm of her Peruvian restaurant in 2021—you won’t want to miss it.

Get lost in a book at The Last Bookstore

It’s not hard to literally get lost in a sea of books at this 22,000 sq. ft. book and record store. Don’t forget to take a picture in its famous book tunnel when you’re there. And it might benefit you to clean out your own bookshelf before you go—they buy used books at the counter!

Take an ice cream break

Angelenos might have more options for exciting ice cream varieties and flavors than anyone! From everyone’s favorite Salt & Straw to matcha soft-serve at Midori Matcha in Little Tokyo or Persian ice cream at Saffron & Rose, it’s possible to go on an ice cream adventure every single weekend if you choose. You deserve it!

Watch a movie the iconic way

Catching a movie at a cemetery is a uniquely LA experience, and one we think is worth doing more than once! But if you’re hungry for more, check out the other venues the film organization Cinespia partners with to bring you a new way to experience the movies. Hint: The Greek Theater and Los Angeles Historic State Park make the list!

Reset at a yoga class

There is a yoga studio on nearly every corner, after all! But if you’re interested in something even more immersive and grounding, Hike to Yoga is something you’ll definitely want to consider.

It starts with a hike (at a difficulty level of your choosing!) and ends with a free yoga class and sound bath on a peaceful bluff. We’re feeling more relaxed just thinking about it.

Reclaim your Sunday

The point is, no matter where you’re reading this from—there are memories to be made and adventures to be had that have nothing to do with an Allen wrench.

This list is just a starting point for making your own weekend bucket list. Now that a Tasker can take care of your to-do list at home, what will you do next?
