Tasker Maggie E. is a dynamo when it comes to scoping a Cleaning task! Her first tip: fully scoping the task at hand. Once hired, Maggie thanks her clients for hiring her then asks them to complete a short questionnaire that she has saved on her phone. A Cleaning task could be anywhere from 30 minutes to 5 hours of work, so scoping it up front is the best way to set yourself up for success.
Maggie’s Cleaning Questionnaire:
- When was your last professional cleaning?
- Any smoking, pets, or mold?
- Any problem areas?
- Flooring: Carpet or hardwood/tile?
- Will the interior of the oven or refrigerator need to be cleaned?
- Do you have a vacuum, broom, or mop?
- What are the highest priorities for this task?
- Do you have any special cleaning products that you will leave out for me to use?
- Will you be present during the task? If not, will you be available via this chat?
- How will I gain entry into your home to complete the task?
Maggie also recommends shooting a quick message to your client 24 hours before the task is set to begin to “remind your client of the task, especially if they booked it more than several days in advance.”
These scoping questions are essential to understand the length of a task and learn what supplies to bring. You can also ask new clients to send photos of their space so you can get a better sense of the task. Clients may have preferences in:
- Specific products they’d prefer to be used.
- Priority on what rooms needs to be cleaned and areas to focus on.
