It\u2019s not fun to be that friend, and that\u2019s one of the reasons <\/span>Dolly<\/span><\/a> was created: to let someone you don\u2019t know be the friend with the truck. That way, your friends can stick to being your actual friends, and someone with a truck can be your moving Helper. And for many pickup truck drivers, they\u2019ve turned the inconvenience of helping everyone they know move into a profitable job as a <\/span>Dolly Helper<\/span><\/a> – which is to say, the Dolly version of the friend with a truck.<\/span><\/p>\n

That\u2019s exactly the case for Jonathan Gomez, a <\/span>Dolly Helper<\/span><\/a> in Boston who was thrilled at the idea of turning his new truck into an opportunity to make some cash.<\/span><\/p>\n

More Than Just a Mover and a Truck<\/b><\/h2>\n

For Jonathan, Dolly came right where he was looking for work: Craigslist. \u201cAfter I got my pickup truck, I was looking at Craigslist for jobs that I can do using the truck, and one of the posts was about Dolly.\u201d It looked like a good opportunity for Jonathan, who was hoping to monetize his new investment.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

He was also drawn in by the fact that he would be an independent contractor, meaning he could select the jobs he wanted to take instead of being sent to any job that needed to be finished. \u201cI\u2019ve always loved being self-employed, and being able to be my own boss who works my own hours. That way, I have flexible time for my family.\u201d So it\u2019s only natural that when Jonathan isn\u2019t helping Dolly customers with their moving and delivery, he\u2019s spending time with his wife and son. <\/span><\/p>\n

Sometimes, he even gets to spend time with his wife while he\u2019s on the job. \u201cWorking as a Dolly Helper has been a great, awesome, and unbelievably good experience. And it\u2019s even better knowing I am able to work on the jobs with my wife, Amanda.\u201d In addition to being Jonathan\u2019s wife, Amanda is also Jonathan\u2019s Dolly Assistant, meaning she often accompanies him to jobs requiring two people to assist with completing the Dolly. It\u2019s a great chance for the two to spend time together (and they\u2019re not the only couple who thinks so – <\/span>Seattle Helpers Dan and Shawna<\/span><\/a> are a married couple that love working together, too). <\/span><\/p>\n

Helping Anytime You Need It<\/b><\/h2>\n

Jonathan\u2019s experience as a Dolly Helper has meant being one of the first Helpers in Boston, working on his own schedule, and getting to make money with his new truck. With all his experience, Jonathan has some advice for future Helpers:<\/span><\/p>\n
