The hot tub – it can be both the most relaxing and difficult part of your home. Moving that heavy thing out of your yard is is not a simple lift and load operation. There are several steps involved to ensure that you\u2019re both <\/span>safely moving<\/span><\/a> and not turning your yard into springtime rapids. <\/span><\/p>\n

Here\u2019s a step-by-step guide for how to get that clunky tub out and into storage. <\/span><\/p>\n

Unplug and disconnect all electrical wires<\/b><\/h2>\n

First and most importantly, make sure you\u2019re disconnected from any electrical sources – as stressful as moving a heavy object can be, the last thing you want is a life-threatening injury. <\/span><\/p>\n

Empty the hot tub & get rid of the water <\/b><\/h2>\n

You don\u2019t want those tomatoes you\u2019ve spent countless hours on to get washed away. Be sure to slowly drain the water into your yard and check local regulations on how much water you can release at once. Once done, make sure to secure the drain cap.<\/span><\/p>\n

Hot tub moving tools: using straps, dollies, lumber<\/b><\/h2>\n

You\u2019ll need a few tools before even attempting to move your hot tub. Maybe sure you secure at least two dollies to assist the the relocation. Also, make sure to have 2 large 2×4 slats of wood to put under the tub before you load the dollies. This keeps your tub secure and prevents any cracking or damage. Straps are also essential for securing the tub both before and after loading.<\/span><\/p>\n

Properly position & transport the hot tub<\/b><\/h2>\n

Ensure your hot tub is dry, first and foremost. You don\u2019t want slipping or disasters. Secure the cover on the hot tub before moving anything. Then, be sure you have at least 2 other friends around to assist with the lifting. Once ready, lift the tub and slide the 2×4 slats underneath. This will make it easier to slide the dollies below. One dolly will go under the front and one under the back. Start moving (very slowly). <\/span><\/p>\n

Load a hot tub on a truck or trailer<\/b><\/h2>\n

A ramp is very helpful during the load process. Place the ramp against the truck or trailer slowly and with the help of the dollies, roll the tub up and onto the truck. Once on the truck, secure the tub with additional straps. You don\u2019t want to lose your sanctuary on your way.<\/span><\/p>\n

Unload and flip <\/b><\/h2>\n

Once you\u2019ve reached your destination, slide the tub down the ramp and reverse the process you used to load the tub. You\u2019ve done it once before, and while it might not be any easier, you\u2019ll know the steps. <\/span><\/p>\n

Keeping it clean<\/b><\/h2>\n

You\u2019re almost there – home stretch. Remove the cover once you\u2019ve placed the hot tub where it needs to be. Once that\u2019s done, sanitize and clean the tub so it\u2019s ready to go for your next use. Prepare and fill it up – it\u2019s finally time to relax. <\/span><\/p>\n
