Turning a new home into a well-loved nest is a long process, but one way to do it is through plants. From tiny succulents to large potted trees, plants make the air in your home easier to breathe, signify the changes of the seasons, and often become sentimental pieces that you can\u2019t help but feel emotionally attached to. So it\u2019s only natural that when we move, we want our plants to come with us (after all, they are <\/span>on-trend for 2018<\/span><\/a>) – but that involves (both figuratively and sometimes literally) uprooting them and putting them through a strenuous move. <\/span><\/p>\n

For Michael and Anthony, two Dolly customers, moving their plants was a challenge they thought they\u2019d have to put themselves to a stressful breaking point to solve. But <\/span>Dolly<\/span><\/a> was there to help.<\/span><\/p>\n

Planting the Seed of an Idea<\/b><\/h2>\n

Michael\u2019s home in Evanston, Illinois, had a beautiful sunroom, which he and his wife decorated with what started as potted plants but eventually became small trees. \u201cWe left the plants on the deck when the weather was warm and they thrived; we brought them into the house for the winter.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

But fifteen years after they\u2019d first built the sunroom, Michael and his wife recognized that dragging these now abundant trees inside was easier said than done. \u201c[Since building the sun room], we aged fifteen years. This year we realized it would be very difficult for us to move the large pots ourselves.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

A friend had a recommendation for them: get Dolly to come by the house and <\/span>move the potted plants to indoor storage<\/span><\/a>. Michael checked it out. \u201cI called [Dolly] when the weather turned cool and was able to arrange for help with the moving the very next day.\u201d Michael\u2019s Helpers, Eric and Michael, came by the next day and got to work, moving sixteen heavy potted trees (including moving their heavy plant pots) inside. Eric and Michael asked if there was anything else to do to help the couple, and when Michael said there wasn\u2019t, they headed out. <\/span><\/p>\n

Michael and his wife were thrilled to have their plants safely inside from the cold weather. \u201cI look forward to seeing them or their counterparts in the spring when it is time to \u00e2\u20ac\u02dcreplant\u2019 our deck.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Ever Ready for Evergreens<\/b><\/h2>\n

Andrew of Kenmore, Washington also needed help moving his plants – but in his case, he needed help bringing them home for the first time. But how do you transport a tree?<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe process to rent a truck is a huge hassle and easily $50 with insurance, gas, and mileage, versus $65 from Dolly to have it taken care of. The store offered $80 delivery that I don’t feel comfortable with based on past poor service experiences — plus I could pick the actual trees and have them at my house instantly [if I used Dolly].\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n

Before the game was over, Andrew\u2019s Helper Eric had accepted the job and arrived, ready to pick up four heavy evergreen tree shrubs. Eric put the trees in his truck and drove with Anthony to his house, where he unloaded the trees just where Anthony wanted them, and was off to his next job. For Anthony, it all happened so fast that he was to both complete a difficult move and enjoy his daughter\u2019s soccer game.<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cEric was flexible and helpful and hardworking. I really appreciated that, and it was interesting to chat with him, too! Eric also placed the trees in the exact spot in my yard which was a huge help.\u201d With the trees firmly in place, Eric was able to get back to enjoying his day with his evergreen tree shrubs safely moved. <\/span><\/p>\n

Both Andrew and Michael were able to figure out how to move plants without doing any moving themselves – it was all done by Dolly.
