Essentially, they\u2019re sleeves for a screw that bite into a wall\u2014creating an anchoring point that supports a mounted item. Some are self-drilling while others require a pre-drilled hole before securing. Anchors are used:<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When mounting to a stud isn\u2019t possible;<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When the surface you are mounting on is hollow (doors, drywalls, ceilings) or very thick (concrete, brick);&nbsp;<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If the item you are mounting is light enough to be supported by an anchor alone.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There are many different types of anchors, so the type you choose for your task depends on load weight, wall type, and how it can be installed or removed. Drop the anchor to learn from Taskers all about the different types of anchors and when to use each type.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><b>Concrete Anchor&nbsp;<\/b><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ideal for attaching dense materials together, like bathtub attachments, countertops, and cement.&nbsp;<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If being used for appliances, be sure to look for corrosion-resistant fasteners.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><b>Expansion Anchor<\/b><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Also known as a wedge anchor.&nbsp;<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Can be used for masonry, concrete, brick, and other hard surface materials.&nbsp;<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Provide a strong holding power by expanding once they are installed.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><b>Hollow Wall Anchor<\/b><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Also known as a molly bolt.<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Able to take on a fair amount of weight (roughly 50 lbs or 22.5 kg).<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Can be used across various wall and load types.&nbsp;<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><b>Drywall Anchor<\/b><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Can hold a medium amount of weight and are relatively simple to install.&nbsp;<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Come in both plastic or metal form\u2014metal can be reused for other jobs, plastic cannot.<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">These types of anchors&nbsp; have threads that help them hold securely into the surface they\u2019re gripping.&nbsp;<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><b><\/b><b style=\"font-size: inherit;\">Toggle Bolts<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ideal for any wall type with hollow space behind it\u2014for example, drywall over studs or lathe and plaster.<\/span><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Able to hold a fair amount of weight\u2014making them ideal for heavier-duty mounting tasks.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-coblocks-dynamic-separator is-style-line\" style=\"height:50px\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">We\u2019ve only just grazed the surface of the anchor world.
