From shelves, mason jars, drawer organizers, and many other options, storage systems are key to getting your kitchen organized. That’s why we recommend figuring out what kind of storage systems you might need as a first step. This may require that you first take inventory of what you have in your cabinets, drawers, pantry, fridge, etc. Once you know what storage systems are best for your kitchen, you can start tackling the smaller areas like your silverware drawers or that dreaded Tupperware cabinet. And don’t worry, as you start organizing your kitchen you might find that you overlooked an area that could benefit from one of these systems. Hire a Tasker to run out and pick it up for you.

The first big area of the kitchen we recommend you tackle is the pantry. This area tends to get overlooked the most and the result is a lot of expired dry goods. Start off by pulling all your items out and checking the expiration dates. Once you have thrown out all everything that’s expired, start grouping your remaining items by category (i.e. canned goods, baking supplies, cereal, etc.). Place all your items back in your pantry by category. Pro tip: take items that will expire first and place them to the front of the pantry. This will help you eliminate food waste while staying organized.

The fridge is definitely one of the most highly trafficked areas in the kitchen and the next area we recommend you organize. From old leftovers to expired condiments, there are likely more than a few items that are ready to be thrown away. Start by pulling everything out and checking to see what’s expired. When you are ready to put everything back, first take a look at what you have and where you might be able to maximize the space in your fridge. Cut up large fruits and vegetables, use stackable containers and group like items. By getting your fridge organized you will not only be able to check it off your to-do list, you will also be less likely to let food go bad and make creating your shopping list a lot easier.

Now that your kitchen is organized to perfection it’s time to give it a deep clean. fridge, floors, oven, cabinets, take this time to clean the areas of the room that may not make the cut when doing your regular cleaning. Is deep cleaning the kitchen one of your dreaded to-dos? Hire a Tasker to get the job done.

From organizing to cleaning, Taskers can help you get the job done.
