DIY Disputes: The Good, The Bad, and The Fugly

Emily is right – adulting is HARD, y’all. Buying stamps. Writing in cursive. Doing all the things yourself.  What has the world come to? How do we make sense of it all?  In a word: 🤮. Here at Taskrabbit, we’ve had the sneaking suspicion that ‘doing it yourself’ isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. Being the inquisitive creatures we are, we conducted a survey that questioned the effects of DIY on relationships (defined as partners, friends, family members, or other).  So without further ado, here are the results: ☠️ Nothing. There is nothing good about DIY. Sorry. ☠️ 👋 Hello DIY move? Goodbye relationship! 👋 40% of respondents say moving has caused an argument in current or past relationships 38% say moving has led to either the end of a friendship, a break-up, a split or break, or a divorce 32% of single respondents say moving has caused a break-up, split or break in a current or past relationship 22% say it has ended a friendship 🤬 Why won’t you help me?!?!?! 🤬 51% …

Taskrabbit Supports Equitable Reproductive Healthcare

Taskrabbit is a woman-led and values-driven company, and over the past few weeks, we’ve put serious thought into what is right for our employees. We pride ourselves on being a diverse community with varying viewpoints. But one value remains universal: we support the health and wellbeing of everyone, however that may be defined for them. We believe that the tools and resources needed to make personal decisions about one’s body and health should be accessible to all. We also believe the lack of abortion and reproductive healthcare access will always have the biggest impact on low-income communities and people of color, making restrictions and bans a huge step back in the fight for an equitable world. What we’re dealing with is not only a cisgendered women’s issue – it is a fundamental human rights issue. For these reasons, we’ve added abortion and vasectomy services, as well as necessary travel to seek services where legally available, to our Reproductive Health Stipend. We’ve also signed onto the Don’t Ban Equality letter. We agree with the letter’s core message …

Behind our Brand Refresh

You might have noticed things look a bit different around here. You’re not the only one updating your space; we decided it was time to give our brand a fresh coat of paint in line with the times and where we’re heading.  Read on for a behind-the-scenes look at the process of our brand refresh and, most importantly, the reasons behind it. Evolving the logo  In 2008, Taskrabbit started as a platform for getting household tasks and errands done in a pinch. Speed was the name of the game—hello rabbit—but over the years, Taskrabbit has evolved. Today, it’s a platform that connects you with reliable, skilled experts who can help complete home projects when you lack either the time or confidence to do them yourself. Whether you need electrical work, furniture assembly, organizing, or something in between, using Taskrabbit allows you to work with independent contractors and compensate them fairly for their work. Taskers choose their own rates—and 100% of their rates go to them—which means when you use Taskrabbit, you are helping individuals work …

TaskRabbit’s 2021 Life at Home Trend Report

HOUSE | hous/ | noun | a place built for people to live in HOME | /hōm/ | noun | an environment offering security and happiness This year at TaskRabbit, one question was on everyone’s mind: how do I turn my house into a home?  We dove deep into the data and thankfully, there are about a million ways to do so. Home isn’t just where the heart is – it’s where the office, the gym, and the movie theater is. It’s where we meditate, throw dance parties, grow our own vegetables and make art.  In 2021, we learned that home isn’t just a place; it’s a verb.  2021 At a Glance We experienced unprecedented growth in tasks – our best year yet. In Honor of World Mental Health Day

A few months ago, our fearless leader, Ania Smith, announced that she was mandating a company-wide, week-long vacation for employees from October 11-15. It also happened to coincide with World Mental Health Day on October 10. Coincidence? We think not. As a “people first” company, the message was clear: we care deeply about our employees’ well-being and will take action to give them the support they need. Because most everyone was off during the same time, we didn’t worry about returning to a backlog of work and truly enjoyed our vacations! Check out what we did! Ariel  – Bend, Oregon It’s officially fall in Bend, OR. The sun is out, the air is crisp and the leaves are changing colors – so I spent as much time as possible enjoying the great outdoors during my week off. My favorite activity was hiking the Broken Top Crater Trail. From snowy mountain peaks to a deep blue glacial lake, this hike served up all the views! It was amazing to have time off to reset and recharge …
