General Questions
What if I am an old RunMyErrand customer with credits in my account?
Credits from old RunMyErrand customer accounts will be preserved. During the switchover to TaskRabbit.com, you will receive your equivalent balance in your TaskRabbit.com account. On TaskRabbit.com, there are not any credit packages, and your account will reflect real dollars. Because of this exchange rate of credits to dollars, you will actually receive more dollars in your account than you previously had in RunMyErrand credits.
TaskRabbit is a web and mobile marketplace that provides people and businesses an easy and trusted way to get everyday Tasks done in their own communities. We connect "Senders" and "Runners."
Our community is open to anyone looking for extra help. We provide services both for busy individuals and for businesses looking to save money.
Our Runners first apply online and, if selected, are added to the community based on location and flexibility of schedule. Our Runner network also is 100% background checked thank to Acxiom. Runners include stay at-home-moms (and dads!), young professionals, retirees, and college students. We are proud to have a broad slice of the community represented as part of our Runner base.
Do the Runners work for TaskRabbit?
No. TaskRabbit only serves as a platform for "Senders" and "Runners" to meet. Our role is specified in our Terms of Service.
What if I have a question, dispute, or other problem?
If you have any questions or would like to report a dispute over a specific Task, please feel free to contact us at any time! We are monitoring the site 24/7 and will respond to your question or request promptly. We are happy to hear from you and to help!
What if there is inappropriate content posted?
If you see something posted that you feel is inappropriate, we encourage you to flag it immediately. Tasks with a red flag will be promptly reported and removed if necessary. The TaskRabbit community is self-policing in this respect, and we appreciate your help. As with any online community that is driven by user content, there are some people out there looking to ruin it for everyone. With your help, we can make this community a useful presence on the web.
Can I purchase a gift card for someone who is not a member of TaskRabbit.com?
Yes! You can purchase gift cards for people who are not registered with the TaskRabbit site. When you purchase a gift card, we ask for the recipient's email address. We will email the virtual gift card to the recipient. If she doesn't have an account, we will walk her through the set-up process. The gift card will be waiting for the recipient the first time she logs on to TaskRabbit.com with the email address you provided.
questions about posting Tasks
You can post any Task that you need done! Keep in mind that the TaskRabbit community is self-policing. Inappropriate Task posts will be flagged, reported, and subsequently removed. Use common sense when posting new Tasks. If you need some ideas, see them here.
A Sender chooses how much they are willing to pay to have a Task done. We call this the Sender's "Task price". Typically, prices range from $15 to $20 based on the complexity of the Task. For more information on cost, visit our pricing page.
Do I need to be home to meet and pay my Runner?
No. The easiest way to pay your Runner is through the TaskRabbit online payment system. You can send your Runner money for any out-of-pocket expenses incurred. You can then leave a rating and review for your Runner, which is immediately displayed on his or her profile page.
Not home to meet your Runner? No problem. For example, when you connect with your Runner via TaskRabbit, you can work out a way for your Runner to access your home. Maybe he can get into your yard through the back gate to drop off a delivery or rake your leaves...or both!
Can I post a Task that isn't paid for yet?
You can post a Task that hasn't been paid for yet. When you are posting a new Task, the form asks if you have already paid for the items at the store. Items such as dry cleaning or a takeout order can easily be prepaid via credit card over the phone. Other Tasks, such as a grocery run, require the Runner to front the money for your items. You can reimburse your Runner in one of two ways: pay for your items with cash on delivery, or reimburse your Runner through the site.
The great thing about paying online is you don't even need to be home or have cash on hand to pay the Runner for your items.
What if I need to edit or cancel a Task?
You can edit or cancel any Task that is still in the "open" state. This means it has not been picked up by a Runner. If a Runner is already assigned, you cannot edit or cancel it. That wouldn't be fair!
What if the Runner did not complete the Task to my specification?
If the Runner did not complete your Task to the specifications outlined, you should first contact the Runner and let him or her know something was missed. Many times the Runner will agree to fix something because he or she does not want to receive a negative rating or review from you. If the problem escalates, you are encouraged to report any disputes regarding payment or Task specifics to us.
What if I need to contact my Runner while the Task is in progress?
When a Runner has elected to do your Task, the Task will be updated with the Runner's contact information. Only you, as the owner of this Task, will be able to see the Runner's contact information.
What happens if my Task expires?
When you post a new Task, you select a time that the Task will expire. After this time has passed, the Task will be marked as expired. If the Task expires without a Runner electing to do it, you will be notified via email. You can edit the Task to update the expiration time and repost it as a new Task, or you can just delete the Task.
What happens if I forget to mark my Task as complete?
If a Task that you have posted is marked complete by your Runner, you have 3 days to close it yourself. Your Runner will not be paid until you have marked the Task as closed. As you can imagine the sooner you do this, the happier your Runner will be! If the Runner has finished your Task and you forget to mark it as closed after 3 days, the system will automatically mark it as closed and transfer the money earned to your Runner's account.
Questions from Runners
Once you have completed the Task to the Sender's satisfaction, he or she will mark the Task as closed in the system. Once the Task is marked as closed, money will automatically be transferred to your Runner account. After you have earned more than $25, you can cash out your money at any time. We will send you a check in the mail.
Can I leave a rating and review for my Sender?
Yes. When the Task you have run is marked closed, you will get an email notification. You can also rate and review the Sender. If the Sender was easy to work with and paid promptly, you can give the Sender an excellent rating and review!
What if I need to ask the Sender a question after I have signed up to run the Task?
After you have decided to do the Task, the Task will be updated with the Sender's contact information (if he or she has provided it). Only you, as the Runner, will be able to see this information.
What happens if I have completed a Task, but the Sender does not mark it complete?
Once you have finished a Task, you are encouraged to mark it as complete. When you do this as a Runner, a notification will be sent that lets the Sender (owner) to know that you have completed the Task. This also starts the clock on how much time the Sender has to mark the Task closed. Once the Sender marks the Task as closed, the Runner is paid. If the Sender does not mark the Task closed 3 days after you have marked the Task complete, the system will automatically mark the Task as closed and transfer applicable money earned to your Runner account.
