Task of the Week: Make My New Year’s Eve the Best Yet!

December 30th, 2011

Oh, New Year’s Eve! It’s either the best or worst night of the year. Either way, we are here to make it a little less stressful!

For those of you who are hosting parties this year, we know it can be a bit hectic.  There is so much to get done – shopping, cooking, cleaning, decorating – and all that is before the party even starts! Once people arrive, the food needs to be continually stocked, trash needs to be picked up, and God forbid someone’s cocktail runs dry!

To avoid the stress, TaskPoster James B turned to TaskRabbit. James is throwing a huge soiree for New Year’s Eve in Hollywood, CA. He needed someone he could trust to ensure the party is a hit. He was looking for someone to set up food, restock beverages, clear glasses, napkins and plates that people leave behind and, finally, bring the trash out throughout the night. On top of the heavy lifting, James wanted someone reliable, cheerful, friendly and responsible.

TaskRabbit Justin N  was up for the challenge! Justin is just what James was looking for. A proud father and husband, Justin is a marathon runner, which he proudly acknowledges equips him with the skills needed to stick with a job until its done to a 100 percent satisfaction.

On New Year’s Eve, James is going to get to enjoy his party, instead of running around accommodating his guests. How can TaskRabbit help you ring in the New Year? Need someone to clean your apartment before a party your hosting? Easy. Looking for a trustworthy designated driver? Consider it done. Perhaps your plans for the big night aren’t finalized yet and you’d like someone to call around to bars or clubs to find out if there will be a hefty cover charge? Yep, we do that, too.

Whatever you need help with, TaskRabbit will take care of it. Kick off the New Year with a resolution to live smarter by posting a Task today.

Task of the Week: Assemble all those (bleep bleep) Christmas toys!

December 23rd, 2011

Ahhh, Christmas. What’s more enjoyable than seeing the joy on the little ones’ faces as they dig into the pile of presents?

For those of us who are lucky enough to have mini-me’s (yes, talking kids here), this is the best part of the holidays. However, that blissful feeling is often short-lived as the feeling of anxiety sets in when you realize that the toy isn’t yet put together. True holiday buzz kill!

Wouldn’t it be nice if you had your own little elf to make sure all of the toys you (Ahem, we mean Santa) buy your kids are nicely assembled under the tree? Lucky for you, TaskRabbit has thousands of holiday helpers standing by to help you get your last-minute holiday to-dos knocked off that list!

Take advantage of it! TaskPoster Donna D did and is now free to enjoy the holidays with her family rather than worry about a missing plastic screw. Her Task was brilliant – she needed someone to put together the toys she bought her kids for Christmas.

It was like a little Christmas miracle. TaskRabbit Cricket B was more than happy to help. She meticulously assembled Donna’s battery-operated police care, a wooden rocket ship, a child’s art easel, a small drum set and a McDonald’s ‘Drive Thru’ stand. Based on Donna’s five-star rating of Cricket, looks like the toys are good to go for Sunday morning!

Phew! Now Donna can now truly enjoy watching her kids open the presents and not stress about putting them together. How can TaskRabbit help you in the next few days as you prepare for Christmas? Have a couple last-minute gifts to wrap? Let us take care of that. Overwhelmed with your holiday party and need some extra help? Let a TaskRabbit pitch in. Whatever it is, we’re here for you.

Pssst, you have two days. What are you waiting for? Post a Task today!

Task of the Week: The In-laws are Coming! The In-laws are Coming!

November 25th, 2011

Oh, the words that everyone loves to hear: “Hey honey, my parents are coming to town!”  The pressure we feel when our significant other’s family comes to town – especially for the holidays – can be overwhelming – paralyzing even. There is so much to do and so little time to do it. Plus, with all of our other commitments, how can we make the time to make our home parent-perfect?

TaskPoster Campbell M found herself in this very situation recently and turned to TaskRabbit for a little help in getting her home in-law ready. Campbell knew exactly what needed doing to get her new apartment ready for the in-laws, but she didn’t have the time to do it. She needed help assembling an over-the-toilet organizer, fixing a collapsed closet bar, cleaning, organizing, trash takeout, donation drop-off and trips to the grocery and hardware store. Sound overwhelming? No wonder Campbell turned to TaskRabbit. Now, she can be worry free and enjoy Thanksgiving with her family.

Whatever is causing you extra stress this Thanksgiving let TaskRabbit help you relax. Perhaps you’re cooking the entire holiday dinner and can’t imagine having to do all the cleaning, too? There’s a TaskRabbit for that. Maybe you’re headed out of town for Thanksgiving and need someone to watch and feed your fish? Yeah, got that covered, too. Have a Thanksgiving party so big you need to rearrange your living room furniture? Ah, catching on, are we?

It’s simple – at TaskRabbit, we want to help you have a stress-free holiday, outsourcing every time-consuming and daunting Task along the way. So, how can we help? Get Postin’!

Task of the Week: Thanksgiving Dinner Grocery Shopping

November 9th, 2011

Mmmmm. Thanksgiving! Who doesn’t love this delectable holiday – it’s the perfect opportunity to stuff ourselves with delicious food, hang with family and friends and watch football all day!

But as magical as Thanksgiving is, there is a ton of preparation that goes into making it a special day. Those who have had the pleasure of visiting a grocery store right around Thanksgiving know how stressful and hectic just shopping for your Thanksgiving dinner can be. The aisles are unreasonably crowded, everyone seems to be on edge and the supply of pumpkin and cranberry sauce is always depleted! That’s why our very own TaskRabbit founder and TaskPoster Leah B turned to TaskRabbit to take care of her Thanksgiving grocery shopping.

The job was pretty straightforward but the results were clutch – Leah needed a TaskRabbit to do her Thanksgiving shopping for her. As you can imagine, Leah is pretty busy – she didn’t even have time to compile a complete grocery list. She simply provided the TaskRabbit with recipes for the dishes she wanted to serve and left it to the TaskRabbit to make the grocery list, do the shopping and deliver the food to her doorstep.

TaskRabbit Erika D was up for the challenge and, based on Leah’s five-star rating, she did a pretty awesome job. She even made a consolidated list based on all of the recipes, emailed it to Leah and had her cross off what she already had in the pantry. Leah was definitely giving thanks for Erika!

How can TaskRabbit make your Thanksgiving prep easier this year? Maybe we can help with your grocery shopping or help prepare your Thanksgiving dinner? Watch your dog while you’re out of town? Whatever it is, we here to make it a little less stressful! You can browse through other Thanksgiving Tasks for some inspiration here. Let TaskRabbit take care of your holiday errands so you can focus on the good stuff: food, family and football!

Task of the Week: Help build a psychedelic octopus Halloween costume!

October 21st, 2011

Who would have guessed that Halloween would be more fun as an adult? While fun, all the planning and primping for the big day can be stressful. Procrastinating about your costume can result in something thrown together that doesn’t reflect your creativity or personality – snooze! But at the same time, it’s difficult to justify dedicating your limited time to creating an awesome costume.

That’s why Daniel J turned to TaskRabbit. Daniel had the exact costume in mind: a psychedelic octopus. (Brilliant!) An engineer, he had the electronics of the costume covered. He designed a micro-controller that powers LEDs and el-wire, which he stitched into the costume after construction. The LEDs and el-wire light up and even react to sound! Pretty sweet, huh?

While Daniel had the engineering under control, he needed help with the design, creative vision, measurements and the actual sewing and construction of the costume. Good thing TaskRabbit Rebecca P was game to pitch in!

In Daniel’s words, Rebecca was ‘AMAZING.’ She was not only enthusiastic, but she communicated every step of the way; scanned and delivered receipts via email to keep things convenient and overall did a terrific job – which earned her a 5-star review! Rebecca is happy and Daniel is going to look pretty cool at next week’s Shpongle show. Win, meet win!

So, what do you need help with to prepare for Halloween? Someone to hand out candy? Help out at a Halloween-themed fundraiser? Perhaps you’d like to outsource decorating your home? Whatever it is, from pumpkin carving to taking pictures, TaskRabbit is here to help!

Task of the Week: Organize My Family Photos

September 23rd, 2011

This week’s Task of the Week is one busy moms everywhere can relate to. It comes from one of our very own Be More. women –  Whitney from Rookie Moms!

Moms everywhere have boxes and boxes of family photos in storage, with a dream of someday coming up with a creative way to put them on display in their home. Well, using TaskRabbit, Whitney turned this dream into a reality.

Calling the Task one part creative and one part Ikea, the job was to first, take a look at the 24” high by 36” wide space of wall Whitney wanted to fill with photos and come up with a proposed arrangement of sizes and shapes that would work for the space. Then, run it by Whitney to get her approval, head over to Ikea (or a cheaper vendor if possible), pick up the frames and bring them back to Whitney’s house – where Whitney would be waiting to get hanging!

Rebecca P was game to help, and based on Whitney’s feedback, went above and beyond. Not only was Rebecca ‘punctual and thoughtful,’ but she even proposed four different wall options for Whitney to choose from! Whitney was so pleased she gave Rebecca an all star rating of 5 stars.

So, are your family photos lonely in a box somewhere? What are you waiting for? Hop to it!

Task of the Week: Hurricane Irene’s Aftermath

September 6th, 2011

Hurricane Irene struck the East Coast with a vengeance last week, flooding streets, knocking out power, and toppling trees.  Several folks in our community in Boston and NYC were impacted, but unfortunately, one of our of TaskPosters was especially hard hit. Ray W was in his backyard when a large tree branch fell on his shoulder, breaking his collarbone, shoulder blade, and one of his ribs. (It hurts just writing it!)

Now, his left arm is immobilized in a sling, making it  impossible for him to do routine household Tasks, like wash the dishes. As you can imagine, even the Tasks that he can still physically manage are much more time-consuming than they ordinarily would be. So, Ray turned to TaskRabbit for help. The day after the storm, he hired TaskRabbit, Alex N to help with the dishes, food prep, household organization, and some errands. Over the past week, he has used TaskRabbit numerous times to help around the house.

As Ray explains: “TaskRabbit has been a really valuable resource since my injury. A lot of the things that I wanted and needed to get done were impossible for me to do on my own, and it’s been really comforting as well as useful to outsource some of these to TaskRabbit.”

Ray- we are glad you are feeling better and are so happy we could help out as you recover.

Surprise my Wife with Flowers on the Brooklyn Bridge

August 29th, 2011

Women everywhere are going to love this week’s Task of the Week. Eric L wanted to organize a “cheap date” for his wife, Anie. But, once you hear the details, you’ll realize that there’s really nothing cheap about it;  it’s simply adorable.  Eric and his wife used to go all out on their dates – hitting a restaurant and a movie – and often spending some serious cash. But, last weekend, Eric didn’t want to spend a lot of money and frankly, wanted to do something a bit different and special for his wife.

So, he devised a plan…. He’d hire a TaskRabbit to buy his wife a bouquet of flowers. But, he didn’t stop there. He asked his TaskRabbit to make a huge orange sign that read  ”I heart Anie!” and wait for him on the Brooklyn Bridge. He would stroll across the bridge with his wife and a TaskRabbit would be waiting on the other side of the bridge to surprise his wife with the sign and the flowers.

The TaskRabbit, Aura M, was more than willing to help. In fact, according to Eric, she was “perfect” and went above and beyond the call of duty – buying a beautiful flower bouquet with roses and sunflowers and creating a sign that would make a kindergarten teacher blush.

Way to go, Eric! You put husbands/ boyfriends/ partners everywhere in the dog house. ;-)

Help me Find Some Free Moving Boxes

August 18th, 2011

Moving’s tough. You have to organize and pack up everything in your house — everything! — and then physically transfer it to some whole other place before setting it all back up again (just typing that makes me tired). That’s a huge amount of work. While TaskRabbits are out in droves helping people pack up their kitchens, lug dressers down stairs, and dispose of unwanted furniture, some TaskPosters are realizing that there are other ways to streamline the moving process and save time.

Who thinks of securing moving supplies, for instance? You know – the boxes you need to get in order to actually start the whole packing process? TaskPoster Gwen D., for one. She had TaskRabbit Michele P. hunt down free moving boxes for her so she could focus on the more pressing parts of her move. Smart and speedy! Michele was “Prompt and accommodating,” according to Gwen — let’s hope the rest of her move goes as smoothly!

Task of the Week: Bring Even More Joy to My Wedding

August 1st, 2011

A wedding is a joyous occasion!  Most brides have been dreaming about their big day since they were little girls, so it’s important to make sure that every detail is simply perfect!  No matter how much time goes into planning, inevitably some small to-dos slip through the cracks – which can cause the bride (and hence, the groom) some stress leading up to the big day.  But, luckily, thanks to TaskRabbit, wedding planning just got a whole lot easier. There are always plenty of TaskRabbits willing and able to help with any last-minute planning items.

So goes the story of this week’s Task of the WeekStephanie T.‘s wedding, which took place last Saturday, went off without a hitch thanks to TaskRabbit, Laura H.  Everything for the ceremony and reception had been planned meticulously, but a few days before the wedding, Stephanie realized that she had forgotten to plan for the perfect late night snack for her guests: her favorite hot dogs from Top Dog and her favorite donuts from King Pin Donuts!

Since time and resources for planning were already tight, Stephanie looked to TaskRabbit to take care of the perfect late night snacks. Laura H came to the rescue!  Laura picked up and delivered a humongous order of 45 Top Dog hot dogs and 20 donuts to Stephanie and her guests after the reception. It was the perfect way to end an amazing celebration! Congratulations and best of luck, Stephanie!
