TaskRabbit’s API is now available and we’re proud to be working with 3 great partners!

February 10th, 2012

As you may have heard, the product team and I have been busy preparing our API for its public release. Well, today, I am excited to announce that the TaskRabbit API is now available! Third-party applications now have the ability to integrate with TaskRabbit’s API, allowing their users to seamlessly outsource their to-do workflow via TaskRabbit.

There are two ways to implement TaskRabbit’s API within an application. The first is via direct integration, where a third-party application or Web service can engage with TaskRabbit on behalf of a company. Here’s an example: YouEye, an online user testing platform for rapid feedback on any website, is leveraging TaskRabbit’s API to seamlessly staff user testing jobs on behalf of their customers. The diversity of the TaskRabbit’s community offers YouEye customers affordable insights into how people with varied backgrounds engage and experience websites in the real world.

The second is a per user integration. Imagine a world where you can log on to your favorite productivity or to-do list app, and with a click of a button, you could instantly outsource your to-dos to a fully-vetted and background-checked individual. Well, that’s now a reality with our API’s per user integration.

Astrid, the personal assistant app that helps people manage their to-dos, has integrated the TaskRabbit API into its Android, Web, and iPhone apps. Astrid has taken steps to ensure that users can manage the entire Task posting experience within the Astrid app, and the UX is very consistent with TaskRabbit’s. Astrid is the first to bring the TaskRabbit experience to the Android. Producteev, the task management app, has also integrated the TaskRabbit’s API into its Web app. As our friends at Producteev announced last month, they were the first to use our API to allow users to outsource any Task directly from Producteev to our community of TaskRabbits – in just one click.

We are thrilled to continue building our vision for the ultimate “service networking” platform.  Our API demonstrates that TaskRabbit is continuing to enable its members to use the platform in seamless and innovative ways. It also means that users of every operating system – from iOS, to Android to Windows – can now tap into the TaskRabbit platform to live smarter and more efficiently – without ever having to leave their favorite productivity app.

Consider this development an appetizer for the full-blown apps we plan to bring to those other platforms. Speaking of, did you know we’re looking for help with that? Fit the bill? Get in touch.

TaskRabbit Acquires SkillSlate

January 9th, 2012

As you know, 2011 was a pretty huge year for the TaskRabbit team. And now, it looks like 2012 is shaping up to be just as exciting. We are kicking the year off with some big news. Today, we are thrilled to announce that TaskRabbit has acquired SkillSlate!

SkillSlate is an auction-based website for local services. SkillSlate crowdsources its network of service providers to help its customers with any task they need done or alternatively, provide instruction on a particular skill they’d like to develop. Sound familiar? SkillSlate is certainly similar to TaskRabbit, particularly in the sense that it’s a service marketplace. What makes SkillSlate unique, though, is its focus on skill-based and artistic tasks – including personal training, tutoring, DJing and even fire dancing. By integrating SkillSlate’s platform with TaskRabbit’s, we will be able to provide an even more enhanced service – one where folks can get help with practically anything.

These integrations are sure to be awesome, but, as you’ve heard before, at TaskRabbit, chemistry is everything. We are so excited to have such a highly skilled and talented team of entrepreneurs joining our team. Bartek Ringwelski, SkillSlate’s co-founder and CEO, joins TaskRabbit as director of financial planning and analysis, Brian Rothenberg, co-founder and VP of Product & Marketing, comes on as director of online marketing and Mike Nelson, CTO, is the newest member of TaskRabbit’s engineering team.

With this exciting news, we are looking forward to a wonderful and productive 2012! We wish you the same.

A New Addition to the TaskRabbit Crew

October 12th, 2011

Today is a big day at TaskRabbit!  We are thrilled to announce that  Eric Grosse will be joining TaskRabbit as CEO. Leah, our founder, will be assuming the role of Chief Product Officer, overseeing the strategy and evolution of the TaskRabbit platform. This is one of the biggest milestones to date for TaskRabbit and we couldn’t be more excited for all the amazing things ahead!

Sean Flynn, our investor from Shasta Ventures, said it best:

“I am so proud of the significant progress that TaskRabbit has achieved since we invested just a few months ago. Leah’s ingenuity and passion for the TaskRabbit product are infectious and something I’ve admired since I first met her. She thinks big and her product vision is inspiring and exciting. When she first approached me about having Eric join as CEO, it was clear that his appointment was the best move for the company. Leah and Eric are the perfect team; with Leah focused on product to ensure an amazing customer experience, and Eric focused on operations and the company’s growth strategy, they will be unstoppable. Eric’s experience, passion and commitment to TaskRabbit’s success make him the perfect person to bring the company to the next level.”

TaskRabbit Launches in Chicago

September 14th, 2011

The last several months at TaskRabbit have been – for lack of a better word – busy. In June, we were thrilled to launch TaskRabbit in Los Angeles and Orange County, closely followed by the release of our native iPhone and iPod Touch app in July. While most of the world opted for a vacation in August, we decided to launch TaskRabbit in New York City instead. That’s a lot of activity for a three month period, but why stop there? We’ve got some great news: TaskRabbit is coming to Chicago!

You heard right, windy city. TaskRabbit continues its national expansion by launching in your city today, and we couldn’t be more excited about it! Chicago is a hub of innovation, full of brilliant, hard-working, people who will bring the TaskRabbit community a versatile range of skills that will help busy neighbors put a little extra time back in their lives. After taking a look at our city map, as we always do pre-launch, it was more than evident Chicago made the most sense as our next step. Chicagoans are united, proud and determined – an ideal community for TaskRabbit to flourish.

We look forward to bringing Chicago our service platform that has been enhanced from lessons learned in Boston, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Orange County, and New York City. We are thrilled to call Chicago home. So if you’re a Chicago resident with too much to do, get started by posting a Task at http://www.TaskRabbit.com.
